In the final game of the NCAA mens basketball championship the story was more about shots missed than shots made for determining the winner. While neither team ever shot like true champions, it was UCONN who untimately started scoring well in the second half and won the crown over Butler 53-41.
UCONN led the first half by a small margin up until the final seconds when Butler took the final shot before the half. Sinking a 3-point shot, Butler went to the locker room with a 22-19 lead, and had some momentum. The second half was another story.
The one constant for Butler throughout the game was the resonating “thud” of the basketball hitting the rim and bouncing out. At one point during the second half, Butler went more than eight minutes without scoring a point. By the end, the best defense for UCONN appeared to be to just let Butler take a shot, and wait for the rebound.
