This July, astronauts onboard the International Space Station (ISS) will make 2 televised space walks in order to prepare for a new Russian module as well as perform additional installations on the space station. Viewers will be able to watch the space walks live online and on television thanks to a streaming video from NASA TV.
The July ISS spacewalks are currently scheduled for video broadcast beginning at 7am eastern on July 9 and July 16. The spacewalks will be performed by Flight Engineers Chris Cassidy of NASA and Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency.
During each of the 6.5 hour spacewalks, online and NASA TV viewers will be able to watch the astronauts replace a space-to-ground communications receiver and wireless video equipment and install power and cables for a Russian multipurpose laboratory module that will be launched later this year.

Once in place the new Russian space station module will serve as a research facility, docking port and airlock for future Russian spacewalks replacing the Pirs module.
When watching the spacewalks, astronaut Cassidy will be wearing a spacesuit with red stripes, while Parmitano’s spacesuit will have no stripes. The two astronauts will be designated EV1 and EV2 respectively by NASA. In addition to cameras aimed at the space walkers, each astronaut will also provide online viewers with a helmet camera point of view during the space walks.
