NBC sports uses a platform called NBC Live Extra, and for the Open Championship an expanded service called GOLF Live Extra to let people watch live and replay sports online, streaming to mobile devices and computers for free.

The only requirement to start the live or replay online video stream of the British Open is to have NBC as part of one’s television programming of one of a list of major cable or satellite providers who participate with NBC in the service.
