Looking for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve? As in years past online tracking of Santa is available courtesy of both the FAA as well as NORAD. The two agencies are experts in tracking aircraft all around the world on a daily basis. So who better to follow the progress of Santa Claus as he makes his way from one rooftop to the other, delivering presents on Christmas Eve?
Responsible for tracking missiles, spacecraft and fast moving aircraft which could threaten North America, each year on December 24th, NORAD puts its world class radar and satellite technology into action to locate Santa’s position and track his flights. The NORAD Santa tracker includes video surveillance captured from satellites which clearly show Santa, and his reindeer, in action at many locations across the globe.
This year, the FAA Office of Communications has announced that they are also putting their aircraft tracking know-how to good use with their own online Santa Tracking web site. In addition to tracking Santa Claus, the FAA web page also includes an Advent-style calendar with gift icons for certain days in December, including one for Christmas Eve with a “Gate to Gate” video about the ways NextGen will change how we fly. Don’t miss this holiday tradition.
The NORAD Santa Tracker and the FAA online Santa locator can be found at http://www.noradsanta.org/ and www.faa.gov/santa respectively.
