Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan Altercation

Although the league has decided not to suspend either player, after ejecting the two from the game, the NFL eventually made the decision to fine Andre Johnson (Houston Texans WR) and Cortland Finnegan (Tennessee Titans CB). The altercation during the game this past Sunday will cost each player a stinging $25,000.

When the fight broke out players from both teams came off the bench and entered into what turned into an all out brawl. The two players pulled the helmets off of one another and Finnegan was hit in the head several times by Johnson – who later apologized for his actions, “Like I said after the game, it’s not something that I’m proud about, but I have to suffer the consequences for my actions. I’m happy that I’m not suspended, but at the same time, I’m not happy about my actions.”

According to reports, this is the fourth fine for Finnegan – now totaling $45,000. Finnegan later apologized for the way he left the field on Sunday, and tried to get the crowd fired up by waving his arms, during his radio show on Monday.

It will be interesting to see what effect the fines have on the behavior of the players when the two teams face off again on December 19th.
