Adobe and Discovery Partner to Provide Educational Tools for Teachers and Students

Adobe and Discovery Partner to Provide Educational Tools for Teachers and StudentsThis week, two icons in education and creativity announced a partnership which will greatly benefit school children and their education. Discovery Education, part of Discovery Communication, and the Adobe Foundation operated by software giant Adobe Systems Incorporated have joined forces to help educators engage students through technology and creativity with the Adobe Youth Voices Essentials Curriculum.

Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) is the Adobe Foundation’s global philanthropic initiative which aims to provide, “ young people with critical technology skills to better communicate their ideas, demonstrate their potential and take action in their communities.”

Through the new partnership, the new Adobe Youth Voices Essentials curriculum will become available to teachers and educators providing them with access to a collection of resources, professional development experiences, classroom materials and a community of peer educators who have media-making experiences via the AYV program.

“Discovery Education is pleased to partner with the Adobe Foundation to share this unique and innovative program with our network of educators nationwide,” said Mary Rollins, vice president, Discovery Education. “We believe that through this powerful curriculum, allowing students to impact and affect change in society through transforming media, we can give educators the confidence to help students explore their curiosity and learn important skills that transcend traditional learning experiences.”

The curriculum included an array of activities, video tutorials and webinars which encompass a range of multi-media platforms. Included in the platforms, which students will find engaging, are digital photography, print, Web design, video and animation, plus guidance on how to exhibit student media projects.

“Discovery Education is a leader in family and educational media and we share their commitment to empower educators to use digital media and technology to inspire their students through breakthrough learning experiences,” said Michelle Yates, director of corporate social responsibility, Adobe and executive director of the Adobe Foundation. “Launching the new version of Adobe Youth Voices Essentials at ISTE among an audience of educational professionals and having Discovery Education leaders be the first to preview it is an honor.”
