The idea behind many of these online back-to-school discounts and sales promotions, is to draw consumers back into the stores where the opportunity for up-sell offers is higher. For consumers looking to save on Back to School shopping it is still a win-win situation.
Hoping to cash in on the estimated $84 Billion back-to-school shopping season, major retailers like Walmart, Target, Kmart and others already have discount promotions well underway. Walmart currently has an aisle of 88-cent Back to School deals on a variety of school supplies in there stores.
At Target, the company ran a two day online only sale which offered sale prices on clothing and electronics for back-to-school. Other in-store deals are reportedly upcoming.
Earlier this summer Toys r Us had run a promotion offering something of a trade-in on backpacks. Currently Staples is reportedly running a back-to-school deal allowing for an exchange on old binders. For recycling old binders, students receive $2 off the purchase of a new binder for the upcoming school year.
