CES Producer Gives $100,000 to Three Las Vegas Green ProjectsEach year, this week, millions in the tech world descend on the desert town of Las Vegas to examine and showcase the latest in technology at the Consumer Electronics Show. In addition to the 24/7 lights that make up the Vegas area, CES and its products consume a substantial amount of electricity.

This week, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, which produces the annual event, will hold a news conference announcing donations to local Las Vegas organizations to advance clean energy and sustainable living.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is the technology trade association representing the $211 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry. More than 2,000 companies enjoy the benefits of CEA membership, including legislative and regulatory advocacy, market research, technical training and education, industry promotion, standards development and the fostering of business and strategic relationships.

The 2015 CES opens on Tuesday, January 6 and runs through Friday, January 9. Also this year there will be a CES show in Tokyo on Feb 18 and another show starting May 25 for Asia in Shanghai, China.

According to the press release, “the International CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for more than 40 years—the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.”

“As the largest hands-on event of its kind, CES features all aspects of the industry. And because it is owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the technology trade association representing the $211 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry, it attracts the world’s business leaders and pioneering thinkers to a forum where the industry’s most relevant issues are addressed.”
