Contaminated Beef Recalled

On Thursday, government officials announced a recall on just over 34,000 pounds of organic beef. As reported, California based First Class Foods Inc is recalling the beef which they believe may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

During a routine quality control sample test, the company confirmed a positive test for the bacteria. The specific strain of the virus is known as E. coli O157:H7 and is potentially deadly as it can cause a range of symptoms from dehydration to total kidney failure. As of this date there have been no reported incidents of illness.

The recall was for packages of beef shipped to retail outlets in California, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin and the state of Washington. The production date was December 7th and 16th an the label shows “EST. 18895.”
