Flu Outbreak in U.K.

According to reports in the U.K. some 738 people have required intensive care to treat a recent outbreak of the Flu. In an effort to reverse the growing outbreak, which has nearly doubled from a week ago and includes 42 children under the age of 5, the Health Secretary has launched a Flu awareness campaign.

Secretary Andrew Lansley came under fire after pulling the Health Agency’s awareness campaign earlier in the fall, directing people to get their vaccines, as it may have greatly reduced the severity of this recent outbreak.

The data released from the Health Agency spoke to the severity of the outbreak. Since October 39 people, including four children under the age of 5, have died from the flu.
