Food Recall on Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain SaladIn a recent announcement from the company, popular supermarket chain in the southeast, Publix Super Markets, has issued a voluntary recall for Publix Deli Tri Fruit and Grain Salad. The company believes that the salad in the recall may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The salad, produced by Allison’s Gourmet Kitchens, and branded for Publix was reported sold in store locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. The manufacturer notified Publix of the possible contamination of the pre-packaged 12 ounce containers of the salad sold with use by dates of 4/5/2013, 4/14/2013 and 4/17/2013.

In a statement issued as part of a press release, Publix media and community relations director Maria Brous said, “We have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety… No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.”

Brous continued, “Consumers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund. Publix customers with additional questions may call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-242-1227, or visit our website at www.publix.com. Customers also can contact Allison’s Gourmet Kitchens at 1-405-735-2017 or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at 1-888-SAFEFOOD (1-888-723-3366).”
