Ford's Drive One 4 UR School Program has contributed more than $5 million to local high schools nationwide

As they launch the ‘Drive One 4 UR School’ program for 2011, Ford Motor Corporation surpasses the $5 million mark for the total amount donated to high schools across the U.S. since they started the program in 2007. This year’s program will run through June, and then make another run from August through November.

Accord to Ford, this program is the most successful test-drive initiative the company has ever run, with more than 255,000 test-drives at more than 1,500 events in 49 states since its inception.

“With oil nearing $100 per barrel and gasoline prices continuing to rise, consumers’ consideration for fuel economy once again is taking top billing,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “We have a great opportunity to showcase our fuel-efficient lineup at this year’s Drive One 4 UR School events, while at the same time helping schools raise money for valuable programs and activities that might otherwise be eliminated.”

Ford developed the program as a way allow dealers in the local community to interact with consumers, showcase the Ford products, and help schools raise badly needed finds. Ford claims that one single-day event has raised as much as $6,000 for high schools.
