Full Sail University Alumni Wins Oscar for Work on “Inception”

Full Sail University, world renown for its educational programs for film, television, game design, computer animation and other visual arts related topics, celebrated as one of its Alumni won an Oscar this year. Gary Rizzo was presented with an academy award for his work on the blockbuster film “Inception.”

In the category of best achievement in sound mixing, Rizzo was presented with the Oscar by actors Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey during the 2011 awards ceremony.

Other films on which Rizzo has put his training to work are “Tron: Legacy,” “The Incredibles,” “The Dark Night,” and “Hellboy.” In addition to his Oscar, Rizzo was also recently awarded a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for his work on Inception.

For his work on “The Incredibles” in 2004 and for his work “The Dark Knight” in 2008, Rizzo had been nominated for an Academy Award, but the prize for inception was his first win.
