Google’s Knowledge Graph aims to Improve Searches with Better Relevancy and User OptionsIn a continued effort to improve the internet search experience of its users, the number one search engine, Google has launched what is calls ‘Knowledge Graph’ incorporated into its search page. According to the company, the enhancement to the popular search engine, uses a wealth of information and historical search data and patterns to make search results more useful provide users with information they need with less work.

In addition to the search results the new Knowledge Graph will also provide related information to your topic such as additional facts, photos, and maps where appropriate. With ties into a number of resources including Wikipedia and others, the Knowledge Graph performs some additional searches and returns some of the information which other users searched for after completing their initial search for a given term.

As an example, after performing a search for a celebrity, Google knows that a large percentage of people usually then move on to search for data about that individual like birth date, home town, achievements, etc. To save users time, the new Knowledge Graph makes this additional information available along with the initial search results. Users can easily drill down deeper into this information is they need more, or continue with their search.

According to the company, the goal for Google is to provide users with the information they need with less clicks, all while improving the relevancy of the search results displayed.
