Human Rights Activist and Musician Peter Gabriel to Tour North America in 2011

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel has announced that he will start a 12-city concert tour of North America starting this summer. The tour, which will kick of on June 10th in Berkley California, comes on the heels of his critically acclaimed 2010 performances.

In celebration of 25 years since the release of Gabriel’s album “So, ” perhaps one of his best known works, the tour fill feature music from the album with new arrangements with his New Blood Orchestra. An album expected to be released later this year will feature the many of the old songs with the new orchestral arrangements.

The orchestra features conductor Ben Foster who leads the musicians in the revised versions of the music which mad Gabriel famous. To give the songs new life, Gabriel collaborated with long time associate John Metcalf.

Since leaving the band Genesis in 1975, which he co-founded, Peter Gabriel has used his fame and success to bring attention to suffering and injustice around the world. For his efforts, including the founding of human rights organizations with other leaders like Nelson Mandela and Sir Richard Branson, Gabriel received the Man of Peace title by The Nobel Peace Laureates.
