Lance Armstrong reportedly used banned substances, says former teammate

Lance-ArmstrongDuring an interview with 60 Minutes, Tyler Hamilton a former racing team member of Lance Armstrong, said that he along with Armstrong and other team members used banned substances including EPO and testosterone among others.

Hamilton, who recently served a two-year suspension for doping, previously won an Olympic gold-medal for cycling. Hamilton was a member of the U.S. Postal Service racing team at the same time as Armstrong.

Jeff Novitzky is currently investigating the allegations against Armstrong. Novitzky is the same federal prosecutor who lead the investigation of the BALCO, laboratory when it was reported that they had been the supplier of steroids to Barry Bonds.

At Novitzky direction, a Los Angeles grand jury is hearing testimony as part of an investigation into the use of banned substances in the cycling world. Hamilton was recently subpoenaed as part of the grand jury investigations.

Armstrong “took what we all took … the majority of the peloton,” Hamilton told CBS reporter Scott Pelley. “There was EPO … testosterone … a blood transfusion.”

In a post on his twitter account, Armstrong responded in much the same way he has always responded to such accusations, “20+ year career. 500 drug controls worldwide, in and out of competition. Never a failed test. I rest my case.”
