Miami Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen Suspended 5 Game for Fidel Castro CommentsAccording to reports, the Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen received a 5 game suspension for some comments he made about long time Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. Although Ozzie Guillen has apologized, the suspension will stick and will take effect immediately.

Today, Guillen held a press conference about the matter in an effort to apologize and explain his comments. At the press conference, Guillen said that some of his comments during a Time Magazine interview were misinterpreted by the writer.

According to the interview in Time, Guillen has told the reporter that he loves Castro and respects the retired Cuban leader for staying in power so long. The comments recently led to a lot of outrage and many looking to Ozzie Guillen to be fired.

A statement from the team said, “The Marlins acknowledge the seriousness of the comments attributed to Guillen,” and continued, “The pain and suffering caused by Fidel Castro cannot be minimized, especially in a community filled with victims of the dictatorship.”

At the conference Guillen repeated to reporters that he does not love or admire Castro and said that he is saddened and embarrassed by the whole incident.
