After a successful launch by SpaceX Corporation of their SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday of this week, the historical first commercial flight to the International Space Station (ISS) is now well under way. Live video coverage of the SpaceX mission is being broadcast live via NASA TV and the internet feed we have below.

The SpaceX mission is the second demonstration mission for NASA’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program. The company used its Falcon 9 rocket to launch its Dragon capsule into space and then link up with the ISS. The demonstration mission now paves the way for commercial space companies like SpaceX to take on the role of regular low earth space delivery and missions to the ISS, allowing NASA to focus more on long-term and deep space missions.

The Dragon has proved that it can successfully launch and rendezvous with the ISS, including a planned abort of docking test. Early this morning the SpaceX Dragon successfully docked with the Harmony module of the ISS, making history.

The next big event for NASA and the SpaceX mission will be opening the hatch and entering the Dragon spacecraft by the Space Station astronauts. Live video streaming of the hatch opening is currently scheduled for 5:30 a.m. on Saturday the 26th and will be followed by a crew news conference at 11:25 a.m.

NASA TV also will provide live coverage of the departure and reentry of the Dragon spacecraft once a date is determined.
