NASDAQ Web Servers Hacked

According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, the FBI and the Secret Service are currently investigating some recent break-ins to the computer system which runs the NASDAQ.

The hackers have not reportedly done anything malicious once inside the system. They simply left files capable of snooping on the system. The part of the system accessed is not connected to the actual trading system. The separate system hacked is referred to by Nasdaq officials as the Directors Desk, and is a web based communications platform for the corporate boards.

The Nasdaq issued a written statement in response to the recent reports. According to the statement, the security team at the Nasdaq found some suspicious files on some of its servers. “The files were immediately removed and at this point there is no evidence that any Directors Desk customer information was accessed or acquired by hackers,” wrote the Nasdaq.

So far their have been no reports as to who the hackers are, or from where the hacks originated.
