NCAA Basketball Championship “Sweet 16” Ready to Face Off

After an exciting three days of college basketball, the third round of the NCAA men’s championship tournament finished up on Sunday setting the stage for the remaining sixteen teams. Known as the “Sweet 16”, the fourth round will take place later this week on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday night will feature the semi-final playoff among the NCAA West teams as well as the teams representing the Southeast. The first game for the West, starting at 7PM, will feature UCONN who beat Cincinnati 69-58 over the weekend, against SDSU which won over Temple 71-64. The later game at 9:30PM will be between Duke, who beat Michigan in a nail biter 73-71 and Arizona who defeated Texas by 1 point 70-69.

The Southeast’s first game starts at 7:15PM between Florida and BYU in the wake of the Gators’ win over UCLA and BYU’s victory against Gonzaga. Butler and Wisconsin will then face off in the other Southeast Game at 9:55PM.

Teams representing the East conference as well as teams from the Southwest will have their playoff games on Friday night. Tip-off in the East starts at 7:00PM for UNC and Marquette, to be followed by Ohio State and Kentucky at 9:30PM. For the Southwest, Kansas takes on Richmond in the early game at 7:15PM and then at 9:55PM VCU and Florida State take to the court.

After Friday night, the sweet 16 will be reduced by half. The remaining teams, known as the Elite 8 will then face off over the weekend on the 26th and 27th. One week later, it will be time for the “Final Four” in Houston TX.
