The last four days have seen 16 “sweet” teams become an “elite” group of eight, and then give way to a “final four” in NCAA college basketball. The remaining teams will now ready themselves to vie for a national championship birth next weekend.

Next Saturday’s 6:00 PM game will be an East vs. West showdown between the University of Kentucky and the University of Connecticut. Kentucky won the East over the University of North Carolina by a score of 76-69 this weekend. In the West, it was Arizona that tried to stop UCONN. But, in the end, it was UCONN who won the day 65-63.

Coming off of a 72-71 victory over Florida State in the Southwest conference, Virginia Commonwealth University will take on Butler at 8:45 PM on Saturday’s second final four match. Butler won the Southeast with a victory over Florida 74-71. For the Gators this was their first loss in the elite eight round of an NCAA championship playoff.
