There was no jackpot winner in the Powerball for yesterday with an estimates jackpot of $98,900,000. As a result the new powerball jackpot is projected to be over $120 million. The Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, May 18, 2011, are 7, 12, 13, 42, 49, the Powerball is 16, and the PowerPlay number is X 4.
The next drawing for the Powerball jackpot will be on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The jackpot could grow higher as ticket sales are spurred on by more ticket buyers than usual trying to get a piece of the big prize.
While no one won the grand prize for getting all of the correct numbers, along with the correct powerball, there were numerous winners of smaller prized in the drawing on Wednesday. In total there were just shy of 788,000 winners, sharing a total of just over $8.6 million in prize money.
Seven winners matched all five numbers in the Powerball drawing, but failed to get the powerball number correct, just missing out on the jackpot. Two of the seven paid the extra dollar to make their ticket a PowerPlay ticket. Money well spent since it boosted their winnings from $200,000 to $1,000,000.
The next Powerball drawing is Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 10:59pm ET.
