Rugby World Cup 2011 Begins in New Zealand Tomorrow: Internet Viewers Watch Streaming Video Online

Beginning tomorrow September 9th through the 23rd of October, New Zealand will play host to the 2011 Rugby World Cup championships. For rugby fans around the globe, not able to get tickets or able to attend in person, the internet will allow them to follow the action with streaming video coverage.

This seventh Rugby World Cup games are set to being in just over 16 hours from now, with the opening match expected to see the largest rugby crowd at an event in New Zealand in over 50 years.

“I am convinced that the stage is set for an exceptional Rugby World Cup,” said IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset. “New Zealand is ready. The teams are ready. The fans are ready. I have no doubt that this will be a Rugby World Cup that New Zealanders and the global Rugby family will be proud of.”

The opening ceremony is scheduled to being in Eden Park at 7PM local time on Friday, followed by the opening match at 8:30PM between New Zealand and Tonga. It is anticipated that some 95,000 fans from around the world will be in attendance.

According to organizers, tickets are still available for most matches. Fans are urged to only buy through official sources. Tickets can be purchased online through www.rugbyworldcup.com/tickets or selected Ticketek outlets.
