Space Station Commander Captures Images of Comet Lovejoy

images of comet lovejoy from International Space Station ISSOn board the International Space Station (ISS) the station’s Commander Dan Burbank was able to capture some amazing views of of Comet Lovejoy, according to NASA. The crew was able to obtain such unprecedented views of a comet from their unobstructed perch at about 240 miles above the Earth.

In an interview with WDIV-TV in Detroit Commander Burbank described seeing the comet as “the most amazing thing I have ever seen in space.”

From his unique vantage point Burbank was able to take hundreds of still images of comet Lovejoy. NASA TV plans to air the images in a time-lapse video at 4 p.m. CST today.
