Starbucks Gives Free Coffee and Tea for Earth Day

As part of the Earth Day Celebrations today, Starbucks is among many companies offering Free products or discounts. Today, April 22, the company is inviting everyone to bring in a reusable mug or tumbler and get a free brewed coffee or tea. Last year over 1.2 million customers participated in the offer.

According to a statement posted on the company’s web site, customers can have “their choice of brew, hot or iced – it is spring after all!” The offer is valid at participating stores in the United States and Canada.

Starbucks cited its reason for making the offer and promoting Earth Day as “We recognize the impact one can make through careful, conscious choices. So we want to encourage and reward those of you who use tumblers or travel mugs in your daily routines. You’re helping to reduce our environmental impact!” The company said that in 2010, people brought their own tumblers into our stores more than 32 million times, keeping nearly 1.45 million pounds of paper out of landfills.

For customers who do not have tumbler or travel mug, Starbucks will offer a 20% discount on the purchase of one in their store. If you don’t want to buy one, the other option is to ask for your drink in a “for-here” cup, and you’ll still get it for free.

In addition to the free coffee or tea today, Starbucks gives ten cents off your coffee or tea purchase anytime you bring in your own tumbler or travel mug to a participating store.
