Tax Extension: How to File 2010 Taxes after The 18th Deadline

IRS

File for Tax Extension with Form 4868 from IRS.gov

This year American tax payers are getting a little more time to file their federal income taxes with the Internal Revenue Service. The extension over the weekend now gives individuals until April 18th to get their taxes filed on time.

For some, even the extra few days may not be enough time to get all of your paperwork in order. If that is the case, say the experts, file for an extension. While you do have to pay any amount that you think you may owe by the 18th deadline, you can get more time to actually file your tax return.

The tax form that is needed to get a filing extension is calles IRS Form 4868. The form can be downloaded directly to your computer for free at the IRS web site, http://www.irs.gov. On the site just do a search for Form 4868 or any other form that you may need to get your taxes filed by the 18th.
