The Newsroom Season 3 – Is this the Final Season?

The Newsroom Season 3 – Is this the Final Season? With the third season of HBO’s “The Newsroom” ahead on the network, some bad news has been circulating to fans of the show. It appears that Season 3 of the The Newsroom may also be the final season of The Newsroom.

Aaron Sorkin created The Newsroom with the same quick-witted, intelligent characters and compelling story lines which have made hits of other works of his, including The West Wing. Yet despite winning an Emmy Award for its lead actor, Jeff Daniels, it appears that HBO is pulling the plug after season 3.

Sorkin had a similar situation with his show “Sports Night” over a decade ago. ABC cancelled the show after only 2 seasons despite the fact that the show, based loosely on an ESPN type of show, won dozens of awards, including 8 Emmy Awards in 1999 and 2000.

This week, it was reported that Michael Lombardo, president of the programming for the channel, confirmed that The Newsroom will definitely end after season three.

For fans, there is at least one bright spot in all of this, and that is closure. Knowing that the show will end after this third season will give the writers an opportunity to wrap up the loose ends, giving fans some closure with their favorite characters.
