Thousands to Pay Tribute to Junior Seau at Memorial in San Diego Charger Stadium

Reuters is reporting that literally thousands of San Diego Charger and NFL fans are expected at today’s memorial for former Charger star player and NFL legend Junion Seau. The memorial for Seau comes just over a week after NFL great star killed himself at his home.

Seau played in the NFL as a linebacker for 20 years and was a 12 time Pro Bowl Player. Among his fans and other players Junion Seau was seen as one of the top defensive players in the league. But all of this was not enough to stop Seau from taking his own life just a few years after retiring from the NFL after the 2009 season.

Seau was only 43 when he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest on May 2. The former player was found dead in a bedroom of his beachfront home in Oceanside, California.

The menorial for Seau, who had been very generous to youth charities, is being paid for by the Chargers organization. What is being called a “Celebration of Life” memorial for Junior Seau will take place Friday evening at Qualcomm Stadium.

Among those reported to take part in the memorial ceremony are Former Chargers quarterback Dan Fouts and ex-coach Bobby Ross. Ross was the team leader during the Chargers first and only Super Bowl appearance during the 1994 season.
