Titans Coach Will Be Missed By Local Charities

Titans Coach Jeff Fisher

In a statement to the media at the beginning of January, Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams announced that Jeff Fisher would remain the head coach for the team. Not long after, however, all that changed. As the Tennessee newspapers reported recently, not only are the Titans losing their long time coach, who took the team to the Super Bowl in 1999, the community is also losing something of a local hero.

In addition to his efforts on the field, Fisher also had a big financial impact on several local charities. For the Second Harvest Food Bank, the former coach had often helped to raise about $30,000 annually from donations with his “Wild Cooking with Jeff Fisher and Friends” fund-raiser.

Another of Fisher’s big fund-raisers had been an annual charity softball game in which Fisher was able to get NFL players and local country music celebrities to participate. In the last ten years, the event has help to raise over $500,000 to help local charities. It is not clear, now that Fisher is no longer the coach, whether the event will continue.
