Water Researcher Gilbert Gordon Named Professional of the Year by Strathmore’s Who’s WhoFor his work in the important field of drinking water research Dr. Gilbert Gordon, a Professor at Miami University in Oxford, was named a “Professional of the Year” by Strathmore’s Who’s Who – which honors successful individuals in the fields of Business, the Arts and Sciences, Law, Engineering and Government.

Gordon’s outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Water Research were based on the dynamics of chemical reactions, reactions of chlorine dioxide, chlorine and ozone and all aspects of analytical chemistry.

Dr Gordon’s developments of methodologies, including the determination of free and complex labile transition metal ion species in aqueous solutions, are being used extensively by the water treatment industry throughout the world to provide higher quality drinking water when using chlorine dioxide.

The professor has also contributed his expertise as a co-author of several works in use for agencies responsible for the clean drinking water in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Among his works are, “Disinfectant Residual Measurements Methods,” “Measuring Oxidant Species in Electrolyzed Salt Brine Solutions,” “A Comparison of Sulfite Ion and Reduced Iron for the Removal of Bromate Ion,” “Preliminary Data on the Fate of Bromate Ion in Simulated Gastric Juices,” “Bleach 2001” and “Residual Ozone Measurement: Indigo Sensitivity Coefficient Adjustment.”

Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Gordon has also been honored as “Chemist of the Year” and “Distinguished Scientist” by the American Chemical Society.

A member of various associations and societies including The American Chemical Society; Dr. Grdon is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and the Ohio Academy of Science, the American Water Works Association, the Chemical Society of London and a Life Member of Phi Kappa Phi.

Dr. Gordon received a B.S. in Chemistry from Bradley University and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry and Mathematics from Michigan State University and in Postdoctoral Studies from the University of Chicago. In his free time he enjoys wine tasting, evaluation and collecting.
