A report from the Christian Science Monitor indicated that the leaders in the Republican party in the state and the nation have all put out statements yesterday afternoon saying that the win of the recall election in Wisconsin, “justifies Governor Walker’s controversial methods to do away with the $3.6 billion deficit he inherited, and boosts their party’s economic message in the general election.”
“Wisconsin Democrats now head into November dispirited and in disarray, while Republicans remain strong and organized, with momentum on our side,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.
In his own statement Republican presidential candidate and former Govenor Mitt Romney was quoted saying that Walker “has demonstrated over the past year what sound fiscal policies can do to turn an economy around, and I believe that in November voters across the country will demonstrate that they want the same in Washington.”
While Govenor Walker held on to his position, not all in the Wisconsin elections faired as well. Incumbent senator Van Wanggaard, lost his seat to Democrat and former Sen. John Lehman. There may however be a recount as the race for this seat was very close.
